The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) headed by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, held a joint meeting today, Monday, with the National Defense Council, (NDC) in the presence of all its members: Sultan al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, Othman Majli, Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Salem al-Khanbashi.

Minister of Higher Education Discusses with UNESCO Enhancing Cooperation, Developing Higher Education

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Amin Numan met Thursday with Dr. Ahmed Samir, Coordinator of the UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education in Yemen.

The two parties discussed mechanisms for strengthening joint cooperation and ways to support and develop higher education and scientific research institutions.

The meeting reviewed the projects and programs implemented by the Center led by procedural steps adopted within the project to develop the University of Aden’s strategy for the years (2027–2032).

The discussion also addressed the possibility of expanding the Center’s support to cover various academic and research fields, as well as updating the agreement signed between the Ministry and the Center in a way that ensures broader benefits for all Yemeni universities.

Minister Numan affirmed the Ministry’s serious commitment to making quality and academic accreditation a top priority in both public and private universities in the coming phase.

He pointed to the urgent need to strengthen coordination with international centers of expertise to benefit from their leading experiences in developing and ensuring the quality of higher education systems.

The Minister also highlighted the qualitative projects prepared by the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council, noting that they will be presented for in-depth discussion with the Center in upcoming meetings in preparation for implementation.

He praised the role played by the UNESCO Regional Center in supporting the education sector and its contributions to promoting concepts of quality and institutional excellence.
