Minister of Culture and Tourism, Motee'a Dammaj, met on Tuesday with the Project Manager of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Yemen, Nuno Oliveira, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in the protection of culture and heritage.
During the meeting, Dammaj underscored that cooperation with UNESCO represents a key milestone in developing a clear roadmap for safeguarding culture and heritage amid the challenges facing the sector as a result of war and acts of vandalism.
He highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening coordination with the organization to implement programs and projects aimed at preserving historical sites, supporting creative industries, and building national capacities in the fields of culture and heritage.
Both sides stressed the importance of expanding areas of joint work and enhancing coordination with relevant authorities, as well as regional and international partners, to ensure the sustainability of protection and rehabilitation projects.
