Tariq Saleh calls on Germany to support state institutions, Yemeni coast guards

The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Tariq Saleh met today, Wednesday, with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Yemen Thomas Friedrich.

They discussed bilateral ties, issues of common interest and the political and military developments in the Yemeni national arena in light of the terrorist Houthi militias threat to the international maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the repercussions of these threats on the peace chances in Yemen and world economy.

Tariq Saleh restated that the PLC is committed to make fair, comprehensive and sustainable peace based on the agreed on references, He stressed that it is very necessary for the international community to carry out its responsibilities in deterring the risks and threats of the terrorist tools of the Houthi militias.

The PLC's Member the underlined the importance of the German and European role in supporting the national economy and ongoing government reforms, as well as in enhancing the capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard and strengthening state institutions, enabling them to perform their role in protecting territorial waters and contributing toward maintaining the international security and peace.

Saleh made it crystal clear that stability in Yemen begins with empowering the state to assert its sovereignty over its entire national territory.

The German Ambassador reiterated Berlin's support for Yemen's unity, security and stability as well as the PLC.
Mr. Friedrich stated that Germany is interested in sustaining the efforts made by the UN Special Envoy to reach political settlement. Germany will continue to contribute to the humanitarian and development actions in Yemen, he affirmed.
