The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) held an emergency meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Council, with the presence of its members Sultan al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi and Othman Majli.
The meeting discussed the latest security and military developments in the southern provinces, in light of the statement issued by the Command of the Joint Forces of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, which included serious information regarding the escalation by some rebel leaders and the obstruction of de-escalation efforts.
The PLC reviewed a detailed and an inclusive report about the consequences of the actions and unilateral behaviors which constituted a clear deviation from the transitional stage references and undermined efforts to protect civilians and prevent the spread of violence.
Accordingly, the PLC decided to revoke membership of the PLC's member al-Aidaroos al-Zubaidi and to refer him to the Attorney General on charges of high treason, harming the political and economic standing of the Republic of Yemen, obstructing the state's efforts to confront the coup and inciting internal strife.
The PLC also approved firing of the Ministers of Transport Abdulsalam Hamid and Planning and International Cooperation Waed Bafhib from their positions, referring them for investigation.
The PLC has ordered chasing and apprehending those who involved in distributing weapons and threatening public peace, and bringing them to justice to receive their deterrent punishment, stressing that the state will deal firmly with any violations, in a manner that ensures respect for the rule of law and the protection of public rights and freedoms.
The PLC has emphasized that the unity of military and security decision-making and respect for the chain of command, are pillars that cannot be compromised, stressing that any serious violation of these duties will subject the perpetrator to accountability in accordance with the constitution and the law.
Therefore, the PLC has approved a set of urgent measures, which included assigning the competent authorities to take the necessary measures to protect civilians and public facilities in the temporary capital Aden and the government-held, unify the command and control over all military and security formations, and prevent any movements or mobilizations outside the framework of the state.
The PLC reiterated deep appreciation for the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the leadership of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, to reduce escalation, protect civilians, stabilize security and stability and prevent the situation from slipping into new internal confrontations, affirming the state's commitment to implementing its sovereign decisions and preserving its legal standing.
The PLC also highly praised the honorable national stances of the residents of the temporary capital Aden and the government-held governorates in defending the republican system and the institutions of the legitimate state during this critical stage.
