Taiz Governor Discusses Development Interventions with Regional Director of Japan’s “ACCEPT” Organization

Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan met Thursday with Yusuke Nagai, the Executive Director of the Japanese organization ACCEPT and his accompanying team, discussing the organization’s development interventions in the governorate.

Governor Shamsan emphasized the importance of directing international organizations’ interventions to meet the actual needs of the local community, expressing his gratitude to the Japanese government and Ambassador Yoichi Nakashima for their interest in Taiz and their support for education and peace-building efforts.

He also appreciated the fruitful cooperation and coordination with the ACCEPT organization.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office in the governorate Nabil Jamel highlighted the progress made in implementing the economic and social development plan, pointing to challenges related to funding shortages and the importance of ACCEPT’s interventions in peace-building and livelihood projects.

He invited the organization to participate in the upcoming workshop to review and evaluate the plan in the coming weeks.

For their part, the organization’s team provided a comprehensive briefing on the interventions and projects implemented under the economic and social development plan—particularly those related to peace and security.

These included the rehabilitation project for detainees and prisoners, as well as discussions on future cooperation prospects, especially in the field of economic empowerment for graduates of technical and vocational institutes.

The team expressed gratitude to the local authorities and their various offices for their cooperation and facilitation, which contributed to the success of the organization’s activities in the governorate.
