The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

Foreign Minister's Advisor discusses with ICRC humanitarian efforts in Yemen

Advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Head of the Legal Affairs and Treaties Department, Jamal Awadh discussed Sunday with the Regional Director for the Near and Middle East at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Nicola von Arx humanitarian efforts and mechanisms to enhance cooperation in a way that contributes to alleviating human suffering.

Ambassador Awadh expressed Yemeni government's appreciation for all the efforts made by the organization.

He confirmed the Ministry's keenness to support and facilitate the tasks of the International Committee of the Red Cross and to overcome the difficulties facing its activities.

He praised the humanitarian role it plays in various Yemeni governorates.

For his part, the Regional Director of the Red Cross expressed the International Committee's appreciation for the existing cooperation with the Yemeni government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He reiterated the organization's commitment to continuing its humanitarian efforts and expanding the scope of its interventions in areas of humanitarian priority.
