Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, along with Council members Major General Aidaroos al-Zubaidi and Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, met Wednesday with President Abdul Latif Rashid, President of the Republic of Iraq, on the sidelines of the meetings of the eightieth session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and prospects for strengthening and developing them in various fields, in addition to exchanging views on a number of issues and regional developments of common interest.
The two presidents praised the historical relations between the two brotherly countries, including coordinating positions on Arab issues in the face of common crises and threats.
President al-Alimi reviewed the latest developments in the situation in Yemen, the Houthi terrorist practices and their gross violations of human rights and freedom of international navigation, which undermine the chances of peace and stability in Yemen and the region.
