A high-level Yemeni academic delegation discussed Sunday with the leadership of Shanghai International Studies University efforts to enhance academic cooperation, as part of the delegation's official visit to the People's Republic of China.
The meeting, which was attended by the Cultural Advisor at the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen to China, Dr. Mohammad al-Ahmadi, touched on possible areas of cooperation, led by the exchange of faculty members, developing joint training programs, expanding the number of scholarships, supporting Chinese language teaching programs in Yemeni universities, and enhancing cooperation in the fields of scientific research and innovation.
Our country's delegation, which included the presidents of the universities of Aden, Hadhramaut, Taiz, Sayoon, Shabwa, Lahj and al-Mahra, in addition to the Vice President of the University of Saba Region, expressed the aspiration of Yemeni universities to establish effective partnerships with Shanghai University for International Studies.
The delegation Praised the university's position in the fields of education and scientific research at the regional and international levels.
The Chinese party praised the depth of educational and cultural relations between China and Yemen, stressing Shanghai University's keenness to develop areas of joint research and academic cooperation with Yemeni universities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties agreed to establish a joint working mechanism to translate the academic vision into practical programs, including arranging for the signing of memorandums of understanding during the coming period, in preparation for concluding official cooperation agreements.
