ADEN - SABA
Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasem Buhaibeh discussed Monday with Oliver Marto, Deputy Head of the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) mission in Yemen several topics related to the health sector and ways to strengthen joint cooperation.
The meeting addressed the organization's future plans and efforts to seek additional support for the health sector in Aden, as well as the mechanisms for transferring the accumulated expertise of the organization to the Yemeni party.
There was also a focus on changing the organization's interventions, particularly in emergency response and combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria, which are among the most significant health challenges currently facing Yemen's health system.
The meeting reviewed the results of a field assessment conducted by the organization in four hospitals in the temporary capital Aden as part of its efforts to improve the quality of medical services and identify priority interventions.
The Minister of Health appreciated the efforts made by the organization in the past periods, emphasizing the importance of aligning the activities of international organizations with the plans and strategies of the Ministry of Health to ensure unified efforts and achieve more sustainable and effective results.
Dr. Buhaibeh stressed the need to reevaluate the organization's activities in Yemen to align with the current phase's needs, calling for enhanced partnerships in research and scientific studies and supporting the ministry's efforts to develop national capacities and build a qualified health workforce capable of facing the increasing challenges in the health sector.
