President al-Alimi: Dealing with Houthis as Authority of Fait Accompli Means Legitimizing Divine Right, Racism, Weapons Outside State
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) stated that any approach to put an end of the war in Yemen will never be successful, unless it deals with the Houthi militias as part of an Iranian cross-border scheme, and not as a local political party, warning that reducing any crisis of this kind to truces and arrangements for a ceasefire will lead to temporary risk management rather than building sustainable peace.

[17/05/2025 05:19]

BAGHDAD - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) called for a collective Arab investment to support the Yemeni people to achieve peace, stability and development as that is the real guarantee for the region stability and prosperity.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Acting Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Dr. Ali Moussa during the Baghdad Economic Summit, His Excellency called for the establishment of an Arab Fund to contribute to the reconstruction of Yemen, focusing on infrastructure projects and essential services, specifically in the government-held governorates, to build an attractive model for the option of peace, development, and coexistence.

The President restated that Yemen and its people are not only seeking aid but they are looking for genuine partnerships that lead to sustainable development and restore their natural role in the Arab economic system.

He also highlighted the importance of Arab investment in promising sectors including energy, minerals, agriculture, ports, and marine fisheries.

The Chairman of the PLC encouraged Arab leaders to support Yemen's accession to major Arab economic initiatives, particularly in food security, trade integration, and digital integration.

He confirmed that Yemen represents the first line of defense for collective Arab security, explaining that any effort by the Yemeni government to reform the situation will remain threatened by stagnation unless it is supported in restoring its national institutions, strengthening them, deterring militias and drying up sources of terrorism and chaos.

His Excellency said 'It is an opportunity for me to invite you to this profitable deal through collective investment in supporting the aspirations of the Yemeni people, not only through stances but also through initiatives and practical movements, so that we can together write a new chapter of recovery and mutual prosperity whose fruits you will surely see throughout the region".

President al-Alimi pointed out that "there can be no development in the midst of violence, no economy, or sustainable peace in the face of armed extortion.

He praised the genuine fraternal positions from the brothers in the Arab Coalition countries led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, stressing that without those positions, the situation would have been more tragic.

The Chairman of the PLC emphasized that this support was not only financial but also developmental, service-oriented and humanitarian, which helped sustain state institutions, alleviated our people's suffering, and kept hope alive for a new phase of recovery and building.
