Taiz-SABA
Taiz Governor, Nabiel Shamssan, met with UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, Julien Harneis, to discuss enhancing humanitarian interventions in water, sanitation, and health sectors.
The meeting, attended by the Director of the Water Authority, Sameer Abdul-Wahid, and other officials, highlighted the ongoing efforts to address the severe water shortage in Taiz city. The shortage is exacerbated by the Houthi militia's control over main water sources and reservoirs.
Governor Shamssan appreciated the ongoing arrangements to pump water from the main reservoirs in Houban to the city's water tanks through a joint mechanism with local authorities and civil society organizations.
