Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, met with the US Chargé d'Affaires to Yemen Jonathan Beauchamp to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.
They discussed recent developments in Yemen and issues of mutual interest, including efforts to protect maritime routes and deter Houthi militia attacks on international shipping lanes.
The President praised the US for its support of constitutional legitimacy and humanitarian interventions aimed at alleviating human suffering caused by the Houthi militia.
He also expressed his hope for increased economic and development support to improve the national currency, living conditions, and basic services, as well as to complete comprehensive reform efforts and enhance the capabilities of law enforcement authorities.
The President commended US cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, smuggling, and coast guard operations, particularly in implementing the embargo on Iranian arms smuggled to the militia.
