President al-Alimi receives U.S. Ambassador

RIYADH - SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation, mainly about fighting terrorism and organized crime as well as to further boost Yemeni-American partnership in different fields.

The conversations touched on the developments in the Yemeni national scene, topical issues of common interest, including the ongoing efforts to protect the maritime passageways and deter the attacks of the Iranian backed terrorist Houthi militias on the shipping lanes and commercial ships.

President al-Alimi celebrated the robust Yemeni-American bilateral ties, highly praising the U.S. active role in enforcing the decision about banning the smuggled Iranian weapons to the terrorist Houthi militias, draining the sources of financing their terrorist activities and deterring their threats to the security of Yemen and the region.

The President also highlighted the needed economic support by the international economy to improve the national currency exchange rate and basic services.

He also touched on the ongoing coordination and the required support for the authorities of rule enforcement, fighting terrorism, money laundering and organized crime.

The Chairman of the PLC underscored the pressing need for strategic regional and international partnership with the Yemeni government to secure the maritime passageways and to deal with common challenges at different levels.
