Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidaroos al-Zubaidi has said that maintaining security and stability in the region and protecting international shipping lanes requires a comprehensive strategy that integrates local efforts with regional and international partners to ensure the protection of international shipping lanes and enhance security and stability in the region.

Addressing a crowd of Socotra residents upon his arrival in the archipelago on Monday, Maj. Gen. al-Zubaidi affirmed his support for the efforts of the United States and the international community to protect waterways from the piracy and terrorism.

Al-Zubaidi renewed his call for the US-led international coalition to adopt a comprehensive strategy to deter the terrorism practiced by the Houthi militia in the international waterway, integrating local and international efforts and strengthening the role played by the government in combating terrorism and piracy in international waters.

Major General Al-Zubaidi also affirmed the Presidential Leadership Council's support for the local authorities' efforts in the Socotra Archipelago to advance the governorate and promote sustainable development, contributing to improving services for its residents and preserving its cultural and civilizational heritage.

He affirmed the importance of harnessing all available resources to develop the archipelago's infrastructure and enhance its position as a global tourist destination, while also preserving its unique environmental characteristics.
