President al-Alimi: Red Sea security begins with backing gov't, deterring Iranian role
[15/02/2025 08:18]

MUNICH – SABA
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) called for worldwide solidarity translated in practical steps to support the ongoing efforts to restore the State in Yemen, enforcing its control over its entire national territory in order to turn the Red Sea from" source of menace " to "a peace bridge" as it had used be throughout history.

Speaking at a dialogue session about the security of the Red Sea, on the sideline of Munich Conference on International Security he said" To find out sustainable solutions, it is necessary to empower the internationally recognized government to force its control over all its national land and to focus on supporting development and stability".

His Excellency added" Perhaps the best way to ensure this we made it clear last on this platform, it comes through supporting the government's capacities and implementing the UNSCR's resolutions in relevance".

He said that the threat comes from the Yemeni mainland, accordingly the way is to support the Yemeni government to protect and security its national territory, side by side with enforcing the decisions about banning the Iranian weapons flow to the militias in Yemen." This is the significant lesson we must learn from the Red Sea crisis", he stressed.

The President restated that Yemen doesn't only defend itself, but also the entire world, calling for worldwide solidarity translated into tangible actions contribute to sustain the PLC's efforts to restore the State and to enhance its capacities to protect this crucial waterway.

The Chairman of the PLC noted that Iran is the party which leads the threat through the Yemeni territories. Consequentially, the de-escalation in the Red Sea and international water—in general—will be hostage by the Iranian regime's agendas and interests.

The President indicated that unless the Decisiveness Storm of the Arab Coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Houthis would have been today in control of the entire Yemen, including deeper and more complicated threats to the international security and peace.

President al-Alimi made it clear that any delay in eliminating this threat, will incur the world gross losses.
He emphasized the importance of focusing on the grassroots of the problem which requires eliminating the coup d'état, implementing the UNSCR's resolutions in relevance about banning the Iranian weapons flow to the militias and deterring the Iranian regime's interventions in the internal affairs of the other countries.
