Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi met today with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, on the sidelines of the 61st session of the International Security Conference, which kicked off today in the German city of Munich.
Talks went over the latest developments in the local situation, the path of comprehensive reforms, and the European and international interventions required to support the Yemeni economy, strengthen the national currency, and alleviate the humanitarian suffering exacerbated by the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime cargo ships.
The chairman of the Leadership Council presented the European official with the vision of the Council and the government to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen and the region, and the importance of supporting the government to enhance its capabilities in protecting its territorial waters, stressing in this context the importance of the European Union and the international community joining the punitive measures against the terrorist Houthi militia, working to dry up their sources of funding and arming, forcing them to stop their gross violations of human rights and their military adventures at the national and regional levels, and implementing the relevant international legitimacy resolutions, especially Resolution 2216.
