The Republic of Yemen participated Friday in the proceedings of the 17th International Forum on Food and Agriculture held in the Federal Republic of Germany with a delegation headed by Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries Salem al-Soqotri.
Over the course of two days, the forum will discuss several topics of mutual interest related to sustainable bio-economy in achieving food security, adapting to climate change, sustainable management of water and land resources, and achieving stability across various parts of the world.
The forum includes participation from several senior governmental and community figures related to food and agriculture in Germany and the European Union.
Minister al-Soqotri will also participate in the 17th International Ministerial Meeting dedicated to discussing sustainable bio-economy, and the third sub-meeting of the international forum on Encouraging Innovation - Enhancing Communication and sustainable bio-economy agriculture.
Al-Soqotri will hold other meetings with officials from the Ministry of Economic Development of the Federal Republic of Germany and the International Food and Agriculture Security Program.
The meetings will discuss support provided to Yemen in the development of the agricultural and fisheries sectors, including financing the rehabilitation project of the fishery port in Aden Governorate.
Additionally, he will meet with other international and UN officials to discuss funding for enhancing livelihoods in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
