Leadership Council continues discussing developments in national affairs
[19/12/2024 05:20]

RIYADH - SABA
The Presidential Leadership Council continued its discussions on national and regional developments Thursday under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi with the presence of all its members.

The Council also held a separate meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awadh bin Mubarak, the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen Ahmed Ghaleb al-Ma'abaqi and Head of the Economic Team Hussam al-Sharjabi.

This meeting was dedicated to discussing economic and institutional performance indicators over the past period, the path of comprehensive reforms, and the government efforts to secure basic services and goods while alleviating the humanitarian conditions created by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias.

The Council listened to a presentation from the Prime Minister, the Governor of the Central Bank, and the Head of the Economic Team regarding the financial, monetary, and commodity situations, service performance, efforts to enhance stability, and to avoid the repercussions of the systematic actions of the Houthi militias that are damaging the national economy.

The Presidential Leadership Council received briefings from the Prime Minister and relevant economic officials on the implementation status of the Council's decisions and recommendations, particularly those related to accelerating the implementation of the economic rescue plan, enhancing protective measures for vulnerable social groups, improving the state's access to its sovereign resources, combating corruption, deterring currency speculators, monitoring service prices, and basic goods, as well as supporting the independence of the Central Bank in managing monetary policy.

Additionally, the Council was briefed on the Houthi terrorist attacks on maritime security and their misleading narratives to exploit the pain of the Palestinian people, and the implications for the living conditions of regional populations, including the militarization of its regional waters.

While the Presidential Leadership Council condemns the new Israeli aggression against Yemeni territories, it simultaneously holds the terrorist Houthi militias responsible for this escalation and violation of national sovereignty, urging them to prioritize the interests of the Yemeni people over any other interests.

The Council had listened to the outcomes of its previous meeting and approved them, along with a brief review of its recommendations coordinated with relevant bodies, and made several decisions regarding the issues included in its agenda.
