The Member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi stated that the Republic of Yemen is committed to move towards renewable energy, highlighted the need for the international community's support to achieve the goals of transformation.
He voiced his statement during his contribution today, Wednesday, to the roundtable discussions titled "Energy: Strengthening Measures to Mitigate Climate Change Effects" at the Conference of the Parties (COP29) held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Dr. Al-Alimi called on the international community to provide financial and technical support to Yemen and developing countries to accelerate the transition to renewable energy.
The PLC's Member pointed out that Yemen has made important strides in promoting the use of renewable energy, especially solar energy, which has been increasingly used during the war years.
He cited some major projects under implementation such as the 120 MW solar power plant in Aden provided by the brothers in the United Arab Emirates.
