MUKALLA - SABA
The Governor of Hadhramaut Mabkhout bin Madhi met Wednesday with the Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) office in Yemen John Paul Omorongi, and the Coordinator of the UNFPA Office for Reproductive Health, Dr. Ahlam bin Breik.
They discussed the implementation of various UN interventions in Hadhramaut, which include support for youth centers and reproductive health services in several districts, the provision of safe spaces for women, and the establishment of psychological support centers for families.
During the meeting, they also discussed the implementation of youth projects and the establishment of youth incubators that contribute to engaging young people through various programs aimed at building their capacities.
Final preparations for establishing a youth center in Mukalla, with support from the Embassy of the Netherlands, were also addressed.
This center will represent the first initiative of the UN fund to support youth in line with the stability in Hadhramaut, and if successful, the experience will be replicated in other governorates.
Additionally, they reviewed projects supporting midwives in remote areas in the field of reproductive health and focused on maternal and child health by enhancing emergency obstetric services and providing opportunities to improve the living conditions of low-income families.
The Governor of Hadhramaut welcomed the UN official, John Paul Omorongi, praising the UNFPA's interventions in vital sectors and its support for youth.
He emphasized the provision of necessary facilities to ensure the success of the office's tasks and its interventions in Hadhramaut.
For his part, John Paul explained that the positive atmosphere in Hadhramaut, thanks to the existing security and stability, has significantly contributed to building strong relationships with the local authority and implementing sustainable projects in the governorate, as well as studying the provision of necessary support for several future projects and interventions.
