Deputy Governor of Marib Dr. Abd-Rabu Miftah discussed on Monday with a team from the Hadhramaut Foundation for Cancer Control, led by Mohammed Salem, the enhancement of partnership and cooperation to establish a specialized center for cancer treatment in the governorate.
The aim is to alleviate the suffering of patients who currently have to travel abroad or to other provinces for treatment.
The meeting, which included Dr. Ahmed al-Abadi, Director of the Health and Population Office in the governorate, and Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Daghmis, the Executive Director of the al-Tafaoul Foundation for Supporting and Caring for Cancer Patients, also addressed ways to expedite the implementation of the project on the ground to ease the suffering of thousands of cancer patients, especially given the increasing cases of this malignant disease in a governorate with a population of over 3 million, most of whom are displaced.
The head of the Hadhramaut Foundation team provided a detailed explanation of their visit to Marib, which aims to conduct field studies and identify available resources and opportunities to establish a comprehensive cancer treatment project in the governorate, prioritizing it due to the urgent need and high population density, thus alleviating patient suffering and reducing travel costs.
On the other hand, Deputy Governor of Marib Miftah reviewed in his meeting with Mohammed bin Fadl, the Executive Director of the Hadhramaut Foundation for Rural Development, and his accompanying team visiting the governorate, reviewed the level of implementation of the foundation's current interventions in the food and shelter sectors for the displaced person, in coordination with the Executive Unit for Managing Displacement Camps.
He also listened to an overview of the foundation's most prominent projects, its humanitarian role, areas of work, and its international, local, and regional humanitarian partnerships.
Miftah emphasized importance of strengthening humanitarian partnerships between the local authority and the foundation, as well as the possibility of expanding humanitarian interventions, especially concerning the emergency response project for those affected by the recent rains and storms in the governorate.
He appreciated the humanitarian role of the Hadhramaut Foundation for Rural Development in the region.
