The euro area economy grew more than expected during the second quarter of 2024.

The European Union's statistics office said in a statement today, Tuesday, that the region's gross domestic product rose by 0.3 percent in the three months to the end of June compared to the previous quarter.

First-quarter GDP was confirmed at 0.3 percent, unchanged from the preliminary reading reported earlier this year.

The euro zone's largest economy and Germany contracted 0.1 percent in the second quarter, while France's DDP rose 0.3 percent over the same period, according to preliminary data from statistics offices in the concerned countries.
