[22/07/2024 04:23]

RIYADH - SABA
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, received on Monday the chief of the European Union mission Gabriel Munera Vinales and the German ambassador Hubert Jager.

Talks with the European diplomats covered a range of topics mainly local developments in Yemen, the European humanitarian and development interventions needed to alleviate the Houthi-made humanitarian crisis in Yemen, and developments in the region. Al-Alimi praised the distinguished relations with the European Union countries, their steadfast positions alongside the Yemeni people, and the Yemeni people's aspirations to restore state institutions, security, peace and development.

President al-Alimi acquainted the two European ambassadors with local Yemeni developments including the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on Yemeni territory, and the terrorist Houthi militia’s attacks on oil installations, maritime cargo ships, and global trade.

The President renewed his urging of the international community to bear its responsibilities towards the Israeli-Iranian arrogance and their efforts to plunge the countries of the region into a cycle of violence and chaos, turning it into a theater for taking down the just causes of the peoples of the region, and the importance of working to implement the international resolutions, including the resolution to ban Iranian weapons, and activating the UN oversight mechanisms covered by those resolutions.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the keenness of the Council and the government for a comprehensive and just peace based on the terms of reference agreed upon nationally, regionally, and internationally, in particular Resolution 2216.
