The Minister of Culture and Tourism Eng. Motea Damaj and the Chairwoman of the Jordanian National Heritage Fund, Chairwoman of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) - Jordan and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, Princess Dana Firas and the Representative of the American Foundation Zaydon Zayed initiated today, Saturday, in Amman, an international workshop on combating the illicit trafficking of Yemeni cultural property.

Planning Minister receives UN Humanitarian Affairs Representative

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Waed Batheeb discussed Tuesday with the UN Resident Representative for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen Julian Harness means of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the government and the international organizations.

The meeting discussed a number of humanitarian and developmental issues and joint preparations and measures between the ministry and the Office of the UN Resident Representative to hold the humanitarian forum, the recovery plan and priorities of the development needs, as well as facilitations provided by the ministry to international organizations in Yemen and displaced persons' file.

Minister Batheeb reviewed government's efforts to address humanitarian and economic situations, confirming necessity of mobilizing supplies by international community to help the government provide services to citizens.

For his part, the UN official praised the role of the ministry in providing services to organizations to implement their interventions, pointing out to the plans of the UN Representative's office to help the government in preparing development plan and mobilizing supplies from donors.
