His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC)—Commander-in-chief—convened today, Tuesday, a plenary meeting of the Defense Ministry leadership, Commission of Chief of Staff and Commanders of Military Units and Regions and the Commission of the Joint Operations.
Minister of Defense (Lt Gen) Mohsen al-Daeri was in presence General Chief of Staff and Commander of Joint Operations (Lt Gen) Sagheer bin Aziz contributed to the meeting via video conference technology.
The President reiterated thanks and gratitude to the brothers in the coalition for supporting the internationally recognized Yemeni government led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for their supportive stance and the precious sacrifices they extended in blood and treasures to advocate the Yemeni people cause, its constitutional legitimacy, defend its Arab identity and foil the Iranian regime-backed Imamate plans.
He said" It is a pleasure that our meeting today is corresponding with the anniversary of the " Decisiveness Storm" and the heroic battle to drive Houthi militiamen out of Aden, few weeks later of driving them out of Dhale' governorate that served as a victory gate to retake all southern governorates that represent—along with the governorates of Marib, al-Jawf, Taiz and other governorates—the crucially important center of our national battle and proposal to restore the state's institutions and achieve peoples' aspirations for freedom, equality, stability and development".
The President underlined the importance of the meeting with the command of the armed forces given that it comes amid interlinked challenges require the military institution to respond actively to the ongoing variables and their implications including boosting the deterrence capacities and well-preparedness to deal with any potential options.
The Chairman of the PLC stated that the Houthi militias have continued to bet on the war option despite of its failure through the previous year during which it has produced nothing but more prosecution, violations and oppression particularly in the militias-controlled regions.
The President stressed the importance of going on the program to unify the armed and security forces and all military structures, and re-organize them under the umbrella of the two Ministries of Defense and Interior in accordance to the declaration of power transfer.
