Leadership Council Chairman receives Egyptian Ambassador

President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ahmed Farouk, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and the promising prospects for strengthening them in various fields.

In the meeting, the Egyptian Ambassador conveyed to His Excellency the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and his wishes for the Yemeni people of security, stability and peace, while the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council asked the Egyptian Ambassador to convey his greetings to His Excellency President El-Sisi, and his wishes for good health and happiness to him and for the brotherly Egyptian people all progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, and the commendable efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve a ceasefire, and revive the political process that has been stalled since the Houthi militia coup in September 2014 with the support of the Iranian regime.

His Excellency the President touched on the repercussions of the brutal Israeli escalation in the Palestinian territories on international peace and security, and the principled Yemeni and Egyptian position rejecting forced displacement, the attempts to end the just Palestinian cause, and the legitimate right of its people to establish their independent, fully sovereign state.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, and the honorable Egyptian position alongside the Yemeni people and their republican system in various stages and circumstances, leading to its active role within the coalition to support legitimacy, and the efforts to restore state institutions, peace, stability, and development in Yemen.
