Prime Minister receives UN Secretary General

Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik met Monday with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of his participation in the Conference of Financing the Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen 2023 here.

The two parties discussed UN efforts in realizing peace in Yemen and created obstacles by Houthi terrorist militia to fail extending the Humanitarian Truce in addition to partnership between the government and the UN to tackle the humanitarian situation, facilitating arrival of relief assistances and implementing Humanitarian Response Plan 2023.

Prime Minister reaffirmed support of the government and the Presidential Leadership Council to UN efforts to realize peace in Yemen. He emphasized integration of regional and international efforts and to take serious positions to exert pressure on Houthi terrorist militia and its supporter Iran to stop its crimes against Yemeni people.

He praised efforts of the UN in mobilizing international support to finance the response plan, confirming coordinating efforts between the government and the UN in different stages of implementing the humanitarian response plan.

He reviewed the militia's crimes against civilians, extremist chains on women and creating obstacles before arrival of the humanitarian assistances, pointing out to recent Houthi militia's terrorist attacks on oil ports and threatening international maritime navigation.

For his part, the UN Secretary General confirmed that Yemen's file will continue to be a priority to the United Nations, pointing out that he follows up situation in Yemen continuously and continuing political approach and renewing humanitarian truce.
