Training course on implementing international accord on disabled commenced

The activities of the training course on mechanisms of implementing the international accord on rights of people with disabilities began on Sunday.

The course is organized by Ministry of Human Rights in cooperation with the United Nations Commission for Human Rights.

Up to 25 participants from civil society organizations, right activists and interested people receive in the three-day course principles on the rights of the people with disabilities included in the treaty, controlling and monitoring their rights, the roles of international organizations in setting up plans for implementing rights of this category of people and other principles and terms associated with the treaty.

In the opening ceremony of the course, General Manager of Legal Affairs at the ministry of human rights Shamsan Ali Antar and Human Rights Officer at UNCHR at Geneva Office Asa'd Saleh pointed out that the course aims at capacity building of the civil society and the ministry's cadre to be able to communicate positively with people with disabilities.

They called for exerting more efforts to enable this group to enjoy all their rights in a move to integrate them in the society.
