ADEN - SABA
Yemen's Information Minister welcomed on Saturday the statement of the Media Freedom Coalition’s Executive Group concerning media freedom in Yemen.
The Executive Group acts as a steering committee for the Coalition consisting of the UK and Canada plus the US, Latvia, the Maldives, Germany, Ghana, and the Netherlands.
The Group expressed their "growing concern about the Houthis’ attacks on media freedom in Yemen, where their continued detention of Yemeni journalists is troubling evidence of serious abuses of the right to freedom of expression." Al-Eryani said in a statement to Saba that welcomes the statement calling on the Houthi militia to free the detained journalists.
Al-Eryani also called on the international community "to take a firmer stance toward the Houthi violations."
