Fatah reiterates decentralization of WFP mission to avoid Houthi lootings
[30/01/2020 08:27]

ADEN-SABA
The chief of the national Supreme Committee for Relief Aid Abduraqeeb Fatah has reiterated the imperative of decentralizing the World Food Program's mission to ensure food aid is not subject to Houthi looting in the militant-controlled areas.

In a statement, Fatah called upon the Humanitarian Coordinator to take the necessary measures to prevent the repeat of aid looting and obstruction of WFP business by the rebel militias.

Fatah condemned the militia's new storming of a WFP warehouse and confiscation of 128 tons of food aid in Hajja governorate, calling the act "a crime" according to the international humanitarian law.

"The coupist militia's storming of food warehouses in their areas of control causes a deterioration of the humanitarian conditions and deprives large numbers of beneficiaries from aid," he said.

He cited the militia's denying of international organizations access to 10 thousand IDPs in Aslam area in Hajjjah a while ago, among several abuses against aid work and workers.

Fatah strongly condemned the international community's silence for the militia as they pursue their abuses and crimes against food aid work.
