RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Information Muammar al-Eryani has warned of a genocide by the Houthis against Hajoor tribesmen akin to that the Islamic State committed against the Yazeedi minority in Iraq in 2014.
As the sectarian militia announced today it had quelled a two-months long resistance by tribesmen of Hajoor in Kushar district in north Yemen, the minister said, "The world will wake up to the biggest humanitarian tragedy in Yemen."
He said that the militia had been shelling the houses, farms, schools and mosques in the besieged villages of Kushar "with ballistic missiles, tank shells and all weapons at their disposal in a wild and indiscriminate manner."
The Minister said the silence of the international community, mainly the UN Security Council and the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths, for the ongoing Houthi mass killing of women and children is shocking and a stigma on the world that boasts of human rights.
