Gov't renews unlimited commitment to human rights promotion, protection

Yemen's Government renewed its unlimited commitment to promoting and protecting human rights.

In a statement to the session of the Human Rights Council on Wednesday the government reiterated its observance of the conventions of human rights and to working to overcome all the challenges facing Yemen and to restoring the institutions still under the control of the coupistHouthi militia.

It reiterated its trust in the Universal Periodic Review as a mechanism for improving the human rights situation through recommendations.

The government said in recent years it was difficult for the government to implement the UPR recommendations because the situationswere complicated especially because of the military confrontations.

The statement pointed to the spread of diseases, starvation .and displacement of citizens due to the persistent Houthihold on to criminal behaviors.
