RIYADH-SABA
The International Committee of the Red Cross and Yemen's Foreign Ministry have denied circulating reports that a new head of the ICRC delegation in Yemen had presented his credentials to the Houthis in Sana'a.

A number of news websites alleged that Johannes Bruwer, the deputy head of ICRC delegation to Yemen for two years, had presented his credentials to the rebel militia's self-proclaimed foreign minister HishamSharaf in Sana'a.

In response to the rumors, a source in the legal foreign ministry said that the ICRC Operations Coordinator for Near and Middle East Yahya Khalil spoke with Yemen's permanent representative in Geneva by phone and dismissed the reports.

Khalil confirmed to the Yemeni authorities that Bruweris taking over as head of delegation until a new head is appointed. He even said that protocols-wisethe ICRC's appointed headdoes not need to present credentials.

The ministerial source called on the media to ignore the rumors of the Houthicoupists. It is not the first allegation this politically and diplomatically isolated guerilla makes, said the source.
