Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah al-Zouba affirmed that restoring Yemeni state institutions and enabling them to exercise their sovereign powers is essential to Yemen’s stability and the security of the Gulf, Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab.

In an interview with Bahrain's Akhbar Al Khaleej newspaper, al-Zouba said the Iranian-backed Houthi threat had expanded beyond Yemen, threatening regional security, maritime navigation and international trade.

She stressed that sustainable security requires a capable Yemeni state able to protect its coasts, ports and territorial waters, combat arms smuggling and strengthen its naval and coast guard capabilities in cooperation with regional and international partners.

Al-Zouba praised Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and GCC countries for supporting Yemen, and called for broader partnerships in reconstruction, energy, trade, investment and maritime security.

She urged the international community to take practical measures to enforce UN Security Council resolutions, sanctions and the arms embargo, and to disrupt networks supplying and financing Houthi missiles and drones.

She stressed that ending the war requires ending the Houthi coup, stopping Iranian support and restoring the state’s exclusive authority over arms, sovereign decisions and law enforcement.
