ADEN – SABA
The Ministry of Public Health and Population announced on Friday that two civilians were killed and 14 others sustained varying injuries in a preliminary toll following shelling carried out by the Houthi terrorist militia targeting several residential neighborhoods and camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the city of Marib.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the Ministry said it immediately instructed all hospitals and health facilities to raise their level of alert and preparedness, mobilize all available medical and emergency resources and exert every effort to save the lives of the injured and provide them with the necessary medical care.
The Ministry confirmed that medical and emergency teams continue to treat the injured while closely monitoring developments on the ground.
It noted that the casualty figures remain preliminary and are subject to updates based on reports from health facilities and the relevant authorities.
The Ministry stressed that the targeting of safe residential neighborhoods and IDP camps, resulting in civilian casualties, constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and international conventions.
It called for a serious and urgent international response to protect civilians and put an end to their continued targeting by the terrorist militia.
The Ministry also extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims, praying that God grants them His mercy, wishes the injured a speedy recovery, and expressed hope for victory for Yemen and its people.
