PLC Chairman Confers Second-Class Unity Medal on Outgoing U.S. Ambassador

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Monday awarded U.S. Ambassador Steven Fagin the Second-Class Unity Medal (May 22) in recognition of his distinguished service and outstanding contributions during his tenure as the United States' ambassador to the Republic of Yemen.

The honor was conferred during President al-Alimi's reception for Ambassador Fagin on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic assignment. The PLC Chairman commended the ambassador's efforts in mobilizing international support for the Yemeni government and people, as well as his active role in strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries across various fields.

President al-Alimi also praised the steady advancement of the partnership between Yemen and the United States, highlighting Washington's unwavering support for the Yemeni people, Yemen's constitutionally recognized government, and the country's aspirations to restore state institutions and achieve security, stability, and lasting peace.

He further acknowledged the United States' significant contributions to safeguarding regional and international security, enhancing the security of international maritime routes, supporting joint counterterrorism efforts, and confronting Iran's destabilizing agenda and its proxy militias in Yemen and the wider region, foremost among them the Houthi terrorist militias.

The meeting also reviewed the latest domestic developments, focusing on the government's ongoing financial and administrative reform efforts, measures to improve public services, and initiatives to reinforce security and stability across the country with the steadfast support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
