Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba met on Sunday in the interim capital Aden with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen, Zeina Ali, to review the programme’s intervention plans and prospects for future cooperation aimed at advancing sustainable development efforts.
The meeting, attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for International Cooperation Sector Omar Abdulaziz and UNDP specialists, discussed projects currently being implemented and their level of progress.
These included the fisheries and fish landing site development project in several governorates, the institutional capacity-building project, economic development initiatives through value chains and support for small enterprises, institutional reform programs, support to ministries and state institutions including the Central Bank of Yemen, as well as the financial management project for the Ministries of Finance and Civil Service.
Dr. Al-Zouba highlighted the significant impact of UNDP’s programs and projects in supporting development pathways and improving basic services. She stressed Yemen’s growing need for sustainable development projects that address current challenges, underscoring the importance of aligning UNDP interventions with national priorities and government plans to achieve tangible results that directly benefit citizens.
