RIYADH – SABA

Abdulrahman Sheikh Abdulrahman al-Yafei took the constitutional oath before His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Saturday on the occasion of his appointment as Minister of State, a Governor to Aden.

Following the oath ceremony, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council met with the new Governor of Aden to discuss priorities for the upcoming phase after the successful completion of the process of taking over military camps.

At the forefront of these priorities are normalizing conditions, consolidating security and stability and strengthening the rule of law, paving the way for a promising phase of development and reconstruction in the temporary capital.

President al-Alimi stressed the priority of unifying security decision-making and strengthening the role of the provincial security committee, including ensuring that weapons are held exclusively by the state and enabling national institutions to exercise their exclusive authorities.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council urged all parties to uphold the values of tolerance, coexistence, and social peace, prevent any acts of revenge or retaliation, facilitate the work of humanitarian organizations, ensure the smooth flow of their assistance, and improve opportunities for a dignified livelihood.

He directed the Minister of State, the Governor of Aden, along with the local authority leadership, to work with the government to improve services, led by electricity; prepare a safe and attractive environment for investment; remove administrative obstacles; improve local and sovereign revenues; stimulate economic activity; restore confidence in the city and its historic port as a global commercial hub.

The President expressed his great confidence in the new governor’s leadership to make Aden a model of the rule of law, institutional work, and full coordination with the central government, in order to preserve its pivotal role in managing the national battle against the terrorist Houthi militias backed by the Iranian regime.
