Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire completed the list of African teams that qualified directly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Senegal qualified after defeating Mauritania (4-0) in the tenth and final round of Group Two of the qualifiers.
Sadio Mane scored two goals in the (45+2, and 49) minutes, Elimane Ndiaye in the (65) minute, and Habib Diallo in the (88) minute.
The same group matches witnessed the Democratic Republic of the Congo's victory over Sudan 1-0, and South Sudan and Togo tied without goals.
Senegal raised its score to 24 points at the top of the general standings, guaranteeing the direct qualification card, two points ahead of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which came in second with 22 points, while Sudan came in third with 13 points, Togo fourth with 8 points, Mauritania fifth with 7 points, and South Sudan sixth and last with 5 points.
Côte d'Ivoire defeated Kenya 3-0 in Abidjan in the tenth round of Group 6 qualifiers.
Franck Kessie, Yann Diomande, and Amad Diallo scored for the Ivorian team in the 7th, 54th, and 85th minutes, respectively.
In the same group, Gabon defeated Burundi 2-0, and Gambia defeated Seychelles 7-0.
