President al-Alimi confirms close partnership with international community in fighting terrorism
[04/09/2025 02:09]
RIYADH-SABA

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Thursday, the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen Steven Fagin.

They discussed the developments in the national and regional arenas, humanitarian aid, the needed economic support for the government's reforms program and the national currency as well as joint coordination about upholding the law enforcement authorities and fighting terrorism.

The President celebrated the robust Yemeni-American bilateral relations, expressing his gratitude to the American firm stances toward the terrorist Houthi militias and their regional sponsors, including the U.S. active role in applying the embargo about the Iranian weapons which smuggled to the terrorist Houthi militias, reducing their financing sources and deterring the militias' threats to the security of Yemen and the region.

President al-Alimi restated the importance of the American role in protecting the international maritime navigation, undermining the terrorist militias' capacities.

He also underlining the increasingly growing need for regional and international partnership with the Yemeni State to deal with the common challenges at all levels.

The talks touched on the large-scale arrest campaign carried out by the terrorist Houthi militias against the staff of the UN and international organizations as well as the Yemeni activists who prepare to celebrate the Yemeni Revolution anniversary.

The American Ambassador confirmed his administration's commitment to support the Presidential Leadership Council, the government and Yemeni people.

Mr. Fagin praised the economic and financial reforms that led to the stability of the national currency exchange rate and prevent the militias access to the national and international banking system.
