The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani, along with members of the Council's Presidency, Engineer Mohammed al-Shadadi and Engineer Mohsen Basura met Tuesday with the Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Breik to discuss the current developments on the national scene and the key issues the government is addressing within its priorities.
The meeting emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the legislative and executive branches, activating the oversight role to support anti-corruption efforts, addressing the essential needs of citizens in living and service aspects, expediting the formation of the Supreme Committee for Tenders and Bids, and the Anti-Corruption Authority.
It also focused on genuinely addressing the economic situation through urgent objective measures according to established standards, and preparing the state budget and final accounts to present to the House of Representatives in a meeting in the coming weeks.
The Speaker of the Parliament stressed the significance of the government's efforts to overcome crises and correct situations through the harmonious performance of various state bodies—political, legislative, and executive—and different oversight agencies.
He pointed out the importance of addressing the economic situation and working to overcome challenges, reiterating support for the government and the additional measures required to face political, economic, and security challenges.
He praised the measures the government has begun to take to ensure currency stability, provide services, improve citizens' living standards, and uphold the rule of law.
For his part, the Prime Minister provided the Council's Presidency with an overview of various political, economic, service, military and security situations, as well as the path of comprehensive reforms in various areas.
He addressed existing and emerging challenges, primarily the economic file, confirming that fundamental reforms require achieving relative stability in the national economy as a preliminary phase.
The Prime Minister reiterated his welcome for effective oversight from the House of Representatives on the government's executive performance, expressing his hope for close cooperation between the government and various constitutional institutions to enhance performance in a manner that reflects positively on the nation’s interests and the daily lives of citizens.
The Council's Presidency emphasized to the Prime Minister the need to make efforts to prepare for the Council's convening, confirming the necessity of reforming situations, combating corruption, applying laws, connecting with people's lives, providing services and preserving public funds and national wealth.
