Minister of Local Administration discusses Development Program Roadmap for 2025 with EU Ambassador

Minister of Local Administration Hussein al-Aghbari discussed Wednesday with the European Union Ambassador to Yemen Gabriel Monera Vinyals areas of cooperation and joint coordination regarding support for Yemen in developmental and economic projects in the upcoming period.

Minister al-Aghbari emphasized the importance of transitioning projects from emergency interventions to sustainable interventions, livelihoods, and economic development for local authorities, in line with the government's overall direction and economic recovery plans for the governorates.

He praised the efforts made by the European Union in supporting developmental projects and programs in Yemen, expressing his hope for the implementation of parallel development programs and projects related to the Institutional and Economic Resilience Enhancement Project in Yemen (SERI), which has played an active role in fostering local development and creating job opportunities for the local community.

Al-Aghbari also highlighted his interest in supporting projects aimed at empowering women, supporting youth and building the capacities of human resources at the governorate level, reaffirming the government's readiness to provide all necessary facilitation, cooperation and coordination with the European Union and UN organizations to implement all developmental and economic projects and programs.

For his part, the EU Ambassador to Yemen outlined the Union’s plan for the year 2025 and the types of interventions and projects funded by the EU in various sectors, reiterating the continued support of the European Union for Yemen and appreciating the ministry's ongoing cooperation and coordination for the success of developmental projects and programs.
