Presidential Leadership Council continues to discuss national, regional developments

The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) has continued today, Wednesday, to discuss the developments in the national and regional arenas.

The Council held its session presided over by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, the Chairman of the PLC with the presence in person of its members Abdul Rahman al-Mahrami and Othman Mujalli and via the video conference Aidarous al-Zubaidi and Faraj al-Bahsani, while its members Sultan al-Arada, Tariq Saleh and Abdullah al-Alimi, were absent with excuse.

The Chairman and the members of PLC discussed a number of topical national issues and reported about the outcomes of their recent meetings with regional allies and international partners in order to mobilize emergency interventions to support the national currency, comprehensive reforms and government efforts to secure basic services and commodities in a way that contributes to improving the humanitarian situations created by the Iranian regime backed Houthi militias.

In this context, the Council reiterated the importance of accelerating the adoption and implementation of an economic rescue plan, redoubling government efforts to deliver on its obligations, reinvigorate control and law enforcement authorities and backup the independence of the Central Bank in managing monetary policy.

On another development, the PLC welcomed the announcement of the cease-fire which put into force in Lebanon at dawn today, Wednesday, expressing its hope that this agreement will lead to a comprehensive cessation of Israeli aggression and the beginning of a new era in which the Lebanese people devote themselves to build their national state, fully sovereign and put an end of the domination of armed militias in the country.

The Council confirmed Yemen's position against the brutal Israeli aggression on the Lebanese and Palestinian lands, and in support of Lebanon's sovereignty and non-interference in its internal affairs, enabling its army to extend its control over all its national territory.
