Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasim Buhaybeh conducted an assessment visit Monday to a number of healthcare facilities in Taiz to review the medical services and needs of the healthcare sector.
He inaugurated the cardiac catheterization department at the Heart Center and Kidney Transplantation Center in the province.
During his visit, Minister Buhaybeh, accompanied by the Governor of Taiz Nabil Shamsan, inaugurated the diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization department, cardiac intensive care units, and the cardiac emergency and admission department at the Heart and Vascular Center and Kidney Transplantation, which are equipped with the latest medical devices.
The minister commended the center for its outstanding performance in open-heart surgeries and kidney transplantation, as it represents a unique and distinguished experience.
He congratulated Yemen on having this exemplary center, which operates successfully in a besieged city, and praised the support of the local authorities and the private sector, as well as the efforts of the center's management, which have achieved success and excellence.
He affirmed the ministry's support for the center and emphasized the importance of benefiting from its experience in providing quality medical services to citizens from all provinces.
Governor Shamsan confirmed that the Heart and Vascular Center and Kidney Transplantation Center have been equipped with the latest medical devices for diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization, which will reduce the burden of traveling abroad for treatment.
He emphasized that the center provides integrated services for the heart, blood vessels, and kidney in a model manner, and represents a qualitative and important addition to the healthcare sector in the province.
He appreciated the minister's support for the healthcare sector in the governorate.
The minister and the governor also received a briefing from the center's director Dr. Abu Thar al-Janadi regarding the provided services, which include 679 open-heart surgeries, 43 kidney transplantations, 1,500 vascular surgeries, and 41,000 beneficiaries of echocardiography, ECG, and electrocardiography examinations, as well as intensive care services. The center has served 52,000 beneficiaries in total.
Minister Buhaybeh and Governor Shamsan also inspected the progress of work at the Republican Hospital, Khalifa Hospital in al-Turbah city, and al-Nashmah Hospital, and reviewed the medical services and needs of these hospitals.
