MARIB-SABA
The Houthi rebel militia has committed 2250 violations against journalists from the date of their military coup in September 21, 2014 until the end of December 2017.

The Organization of National Media Professionals, otherwise known as Sada, documented the mentioned statistic and published it in a report during a press conference in Marib this week.

Sada said the Iran-backed Houthis are responsible for 85% of the total violations against journalists in 21 provinces. The militia committed 88% of its overall abuses in the capital Sana'a.

Sada documented "20 kinds of violations" inclusive of abductions, forced disappearances, murders, tortures, bombings of houses, dismissal fro public job and crackdown.

Sada said that over the past three years the militia killed 22 journalists by sniper shooting, using them as human shields in the ongoing war, bombing, indiscriminate shelling, and putting poison in food.

"One hundred and forty one journalists were abducted, 14 of them were subjected to the atrocity of forced disappearance," said the report.

The report said "the militia physically assaulted 54 journalists and tortured 55 others."

The total number of abused journalists in Sana'a was 1972, the biggest number, followed by Taiz, 81 journalists."

The government-held Marib in Yemen's east was the most embracing province and safest haven for persecuted journalists during the period of the abuses.

The report called on the government to pressure on the United Nations to secure the release of journalists in the captivity of the terrorist militia.
