GENEVA - SABA
On the sidelines of the 48th session of the Human Rights Council, a human rights symposium was held today at the Conference Center in Geneva, Switzerland, to review the terrorist practices committed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against minorities in Yemen.
Human rights activist Basem al-Absi stressed that the Houthi movement is an extremist religious movement that sanctifies a certain dynasty and a specific religious ideology.
He referred to the extremist Houthi practices such as bombing opponents' homes, kidnappings, arrests, enforced disappearances, and the dismissal of nearly 150,000 employees replacing them with members of the militia.
Al-Absi reviewed the violations that affected minorities in Yemen and the deportation of six members of the Baha’i sect, as well as the practice of the most heinous crimes against Yemeni Jews stressing that targeting the militias Al-Houthi for religious minorities is an attempt to undermine the values of coexistence among Yemenis.
He pointed out that the Houthis are not a Yemeni national project, but are one of Iran’s arms in the Arab region.
