The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

National Enquiry Commission reviews human rights situation in Marib 2021-06-09

Members of the National Commission to for Enquiry into Alleged Human Rights Abuses met today with the Deputy Governor of Marib, Dr. Abd Rabbu Miftah, and the Governorate's Police Director, Colonel Yahya Hamid, to discuss the situation of prisoners in Marib and the recent escalating Houthi crimes and violations against civilians.

Miftah reiterated the commitment of the local authority and security services in Marib to protect human rights, abide by the constitution and the law during the enforcement of law and order, take care of public and private interests, and achieve justice.

Miftah gave a brief overview of the crimes and violations committed by the Houthi coup militia against civilians in the governorate on an ongoing basis, the latest of which was the targeting of a fuel station in Al-Rawda neighborhood, north of the city of Marib, with a ballistic missile and a booby-trapped plane, which resulted in the death of 21 civilians, including two children, last Saturday.
