Al-Eryani condemns Houthi restrictions on movement of remaining MPs
[04/08/2020 01:09]
RIYADH-SABA
Minister of Information Muammar al-Eryani has condemned the Houthi resitrictions on the movement of the remaining parliamentarians in militant-controlled areas.

The Houthis had placed restrictions on the mobility of MPs living in Sana'a in bracing for their use of Eid al-Adhaha holiday as an opportunity to escape outside the radical theocratic militia's areas of control.

Al-Eryani said the militia "had ordered their security agents to place the members" of the upper and lower house of the parliament together with their families and escorts "under house arrest" in Sana'a.

"The memo that one of the Houthi leaders addressed to the agents reveals the conditions that the remaining parliament and Shura members go through.

They are being detained at gun point in Sana'a and are not allowed to escape it," he said. "It also marks the level of aversion to the militia and lack of mutual distrust amongst the putschists that the Houthi leaders now fear that the remaining MPs would travel and defect to the governments' side."
