Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad al-Hadhrami met Thursday on the sidelines of the 74th Round of the UN General Assembly Sweden Foreign Minister Ann Linde, discussing with her developments on implementing Stockholm Agreement.
Al-Hadhrami pointed out that the continuous Houthi militia's stubbornness of implementing the agreement is the main obstacle before any political settlement, confirming that the government is keen on peace and will continue support efforts of the UN envoy to reach to permanent peace based on the three references; the GCC Initiative, outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and UN Resolution 2216.
He stressed significance of implementing Hodeida agreement before proceeding with any other political consultations, pointing to UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council's armed rebellion against the government followed by UAE air raids on the national army in Aden and Abyan.
For her part, the Swedish minister confirmed her country's support to the government of Yemen and support to UN envoy's efforts for peace, pointing out to continuous Sweden's care to humanitarian situation in Yemen.
She expressed Sweden's hope for participation in the joint presidency of the Humanitarian Response Plan 2020 to be held in Geneva.
