CAIRO-SABA
President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi's visit to Cairo was successful, the director of the presidential office Abdullah al-Aleemi said.
In a statement to Saba he noted that Hadi and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi discussed a number of security, political and economic dossiers. "There was a unity of perspectives and positions toward all issues in what serves the interests of both" Yemen and Egypt, said.
"The Egyptian president expressed his rejection of turning Yemen into an area of influence for non-Arab powers or a platform for threats to the security of Arab states or to the freedom of shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Manden strait."
He said that the Egyptian authorities promised to facilitate the residence of Yemeni nationals in Egypt.
He said that Hadi met members of the General People's Congress party who had left Yemen for Cairo after breaking ranks with and suffering crackdown from the Houthi rebels late last year.
Hadi discussed forming a united front with them to restore the Yemeni state and counter the Houthi coup of 2014.
